Part of the ethos of ThoughtBox is to promote a sense of positive global citizenship within our communities by encouraging tolerance, empathy and connectivity. Breaking down barriers is just the beginning to forging relationships between other cultures and developing a strong sense of place in the world. All of our lessons and resources support global citizenship, but we also encourage further engagement through our Global Citizenship opportunities listed below.
NGTs (New Generation Thinkers)
Our NGTs (New Generation Thinkers) are a group of innovative and inspired thinkers and practitioners working to elicit positive change within society. NGTs are carefully selected as individual members or organisations who are also standing up for new ways of thinking and being in the world – practitioners working within the field of education, environmental sustainability, cross-cultural engagement and social development, connecting with the ThoughtBox school communities through workshops, talks, field trips and the sharing of ideas.
Each month we invite students to tell us their perspective on the ThoughtBox topic; what has been learned or unlearned; what has challenged or been unexpected. At the end of each ThoughtBox topic, we ask a Global Challenge question to our school communities and invite students to respond. If you (as a student) have thoughts or an answer to share, we’d love to hear it. Write us a letter, tell us in a story, express it in an article, make a short film; even say it in a picture… However you’d like to respond, ThoughtBox is waiting to hear it. To find out more about this month’s Challenge question about how to share your ideas with the ThoughtBox community please click here.
Creative Disruptors is an educational challenge for young people in the UK and Tanzania between the ages of 13-25; using Social Media platforms to engage them in cross-cultural empathy building whilst creating and building appropriate technology innovations for sustainable development.
This six-month project is a collaboration between ThoughtBox and our partners Bright Green Enterprise in the UK and Twende in Arusha, Tanzania. Open to participants in the UK and Tanzania, the project encourages students from both countries to work alongside each other; innovating and designing sustainable solutions for some of our more pressing global issues.
