Changing Climates Lesson Plans

 
 

Aims & Objectives:

Students will practise skills of critical thinking & questioning, deep listening, empathy building and thinking in systems (understanding how things connect) by engaging in a wide range of learning stimulus, discussion ideas and creative exercises.

Lessons will introduce key information about the cause & effect of climate change, exploring some of the science and relating it to local contexts. Students will understand the impact of climate change on both human and non-human communities and engage with the values and emotions that we are all experiencing, helping move from anxiety to empowerment and inspiring positive actions moving forward.

LESSON 1 | IMMERSE | Our Changing Climate
Engaging with some of the realities of climate change, introducing the science and exploring ‘Deep Time’

LESSON 2 | UNDERSTAND | Cause and Effect
Exploring cause & effect of climate change and understanding the influence of human activities.

LESSON 3 | PERSPECTIVES | The Ripple EffectsEmpathising with the impact of climate change in different communities, contexts and environments.

LESSON 4 | EMPOWER | Be the Change
Connecting with global changemakers and exploring emotional responses to climate change, learning to move from anxiety to empowerment.
