Should we take the politics out of education?

As yet another education minister walks out of the door of government, it is really time to start asking the question:

Should we take the politics out of education?

It's one thing having the sway of political change impacting educational policy every time a new government gets into power, but it's another thing altogether when the person in charge of those policies changes every year or so.

Four Education Ministers in the UK in the last seven years...whichever way you look at it, this cannot be a good thing for children, for schools and for the nurturing of education.
