Why don't we talk about homelessness?

Almost everyone living on the streets has a story that it is terrifyingly easy to imagine happening to you, or to someone you love.  So engaging with these stories is perhaps a reminder of just how close all of us could be to finding ourselves in a similar predicament.

But does walking on by without looking down make it somehow easier to ignore the fact that our society has some serious issues that we need to face?
