Is this the best a man can get?

The new advertisement from Gillette is proving controversial in its reception, as it challenges the stereotype of masculinity whilst engaging with the #MeToo movement, playing on its 30-year tagline “The Best A Man Can Get”, by instead asking: “Is this the best a man can get?”

The advert shows men intervening to stop fights between boys and challenging other men when they say sexually inappropriate things to women in the streets, with the company stating that "From today on, we pledge to actively challenge the stereotypes and expectations of what it means to be a man everywhere you see Gillette."

What do you think? Is this overt reaction to masculine stereotypes a positive message for change? Take a look at the advert and see what you think.
